Recently, we brought you part one of our list of 15 facts about PacSun. Now, we bring you part two, with eight more facts about the teen clothing retailer, which has been “bringing the beach to the people” for more than 36 years.

Number Eight: PacSun Sponsored a Series of Pool Parties in Las Vegas

Over summer 2015, PacSun sponsored a series of pool parties in Las Vegas to coincide with their Golden State of Mind campaign. Reserving Drai’s Beach Club for eight separate nights, each party is meant to showcase a different brand that the retailer sells. The first pool party, which occurred on Memorial Day weekend, featured The Weeknd as its special musical guest.

Number Seven: They Sponsor the Skateboarding World Championships

PacSun is a sponsor of the Street League Skateboarding Nike SB World Tour Championships. The event brings skateboarding into the limelight, a key demographic for the retailer’s clothing and accessories.

Number Six: They Created VanPac with Vans Shoes

Back in 1999, PacSun collaborated with shoe brand Vans to jumpstart Vans’ apparel line. The partnership was beneficial to both companies, bringing more people through the doors of PacSun stores. The retailer still carries the Vans brand of footwear and clothing.

Number Five: Lindsey Lohan Had a Unisex Clothing Line with Them

In late 2014, actress/singer/gossip magnet Lindsey Lohan launched a brand of clothing and accessories, in association with Civil Clothing, through the retailer. Titled “Civil Regime,” it is widely believed that the line was meant to be unisex.

Number Four: They Created ‘Golden State of Mind Day’

For two years running, PacSun has been promoting their Golden State of Mind campaign with fun, day-long activities they refer to as “Golden State of Mind Day.” The first date, occurring on the first day of summer in 2014, featured a 20-hour day of events that went on in cities across the United States and Puerto Rico. In 2015, it featured eight contest winners ringing in the first day of summer with surf lessons in the Hamptons, the pool party in Las Vegas, and a night of food and drinks in Hollywood.

Number Three: They Give Back With ‘Me to We’

Based in Kenya, Me to We creates artisan jewelry and crafts designed by native women in the country, then sells them in stores, including PacSun. The money from the sale of those goods goes back to help the women who designed and created them. The products even feature a barcode where one can track the impact of their purchase.

Number Two: They Recently Premiered a New Shoe from Kanye West

In the past, Kanye West sold his tour merchandise in PacSun stores, giving everyone the chance to own one without going to see him live. Now, in February 2016, West has collaborated with the store again to sell the first run of his new Pirate Black Yeezy Boost 350 sneaker. The chain was chosen to hold raffles for the limited edition shoes, which occurred on February 19.

Number One: They Once Experimented with Having a Location in New York City

Despite being everywhere else in suburban and upstate New York, PacSun does not have any stores in Manhattan. In 2013, the chain tried to test the waters in this market by opening a pop-up store in SoHo. The store lasted throughout the summer, at which point it disappeared.
