Number Seven: She Never Met Her Father
Naomi is an only child raised by a single mother. According to Valerie Morris (Naomi’s mom), her dad abandoned them when he found out Morris was pregnant. A few men have tried to get her attention claiming to be her biological father. To this date, his identity remains a mystery.
Number Six: She Was in a Bob Marley Video
Long before Naomi graced the covers of international fashion magazines, Bob Marley chose her to be in one of his music videos. Campbell was only seven when she appeared in his video for “Is This Love.”
Number Five: She Dipped Her Toes Into the Restaurant Industry With the Fashion Cafe
Like many other before her, Campbell was also a victim of the complex restaurant industry. Supermodels Elle Macpherson, Claudia Schiffer, Christy Turlington and Naomi Campbell co-founded the Fashion Café, located in New York’s Rockefeller Center. The business was surrounded by fraud accusations from the beginning and went bankrupt soon later.
Number Four: She’s More Charitable Than Most People Realize
In 2005, the model founded two charitable organizations: Fashion Relief, aimed to raise money to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina, and We Love Brazil, aimed at helping fight poverty through cultural and artistic activities. She’s involved with many other humanitarian organizations internationally as well.
Number Three: Naomi Campbell’s Shoes on Display
Back in 1993, Naomi publicly fell from a pair of Vivienne Westwood platform heels while cat walking in Paris. The pictures appeared all over the tabloids and still remains one of the most iconic runway falls. The shoes have been on display at different museums after the incident: London’s Bowes Museum in 2011, The Victoria and Albert Museum in 2015, and The Fashion Museum Antwerp in 2015/2016.
Number Two: Naomi Campbell Is an Olympic Nerd
Naomi has stated on several occasions that she loves watching the Olympics. She, along with seven other British models, including Kate Moss, represented the world of British Fashion at the 2012 London Olympics.
Number One: She’s Scared of Television
During an interview with Cameron Díaz for Interview Magazine, Campbell explained she’s not really a TV kind of person, and fought hard for 10 years not to appear on any shows. “The word reality scared me. I just looked at reality as everybody follows me around with a camera, and I’m not that kind of person. I fought for my privacy in England.” Eventually, she became more comfortable with the idea of appearing on TV, and even did a cameo in American Horror Story: Hotel.
