Now, we bring you part two, with eight more facts about the thrill-seeking founder of the Virgin Group, who’s global empire of more than 400 businesses has earned him a net worth of more than $5 Billion.

Number Eight: Sir Richard Branson Was At the Sex Pistols Infamous Boat Party

In 1977, Virgin signed the Sex Pistols and released their one and only album, Nevermind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols. When the Malcom McLaren and the label threw the Sex Pistols’ boat party during the Queen’s Silver Jubilee that same year, Branson was on the boat.

Number Seven: He Was the First Person to Cross the Atlantic by Hot Air Balloon

A known thrill-seeker, Sir Richard Branson has always been interested in air travel, in particular balloons. In 1987, after a few failed attempts, he became the first and only person to fly over the Atlantic Ocean in a hot air balloon. Branson did it again in 1991, this time crossing 6700 miles of the Pacific Ocean.

Number Six: He is Dyslexic

His dyslexia was a problem for him growing up, so much so that he quit school at the age of 16. Since then, Branson has been very vocal about his learning disability, calling it an advantage that forced him to become an excellent delegator.

Number Five: He Invests in Up-and-Coming Entrepreneurs

Sir Richard Branson started Virgin Start-Up in 2013 in partnership with the Start-Up Loans Company. The not-for-profit gives young entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 30 the opportunity to earn financial support and benefit from mentorship and business advice from one of the most successful companies in the world.

Number Four: He Had a Failed Wedding Dress Business

Not all of Branson’s ventures have succeeded. Virgin Brides was a chain of bridal wear shops. However, wedding gowns proved not to be a lucrative business for him and it closed down almost as soon as it started.

Number Three: He Once Held a Look-Alike Competition

In 2009, Branson hosted a competition to find a person, male or female, who looked just like him. The stunt was to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Virgin. The winner received VIP tickets to the celebrations, which also included a party in New York.

Number Two: He Has Been Naked in Public

Sir Richard Branson has pulled a number of crazy publicity stunts for the Virgin company, some involving him being naked. As a publicity stunt for his mobile phone company, he striped down in a cage with a bunch of nude women. He also displayed his bare bottom to promote Virgin Atlantic flights to Canada.

Number One: He Blogs on the Virgin Website

Despite being busy with the empire he has built with Virgin, Branson still finds time to post multiple times daily on his blog on Virgin.com. His blog features personal stories that relate to a particular topic in business or entrepreneurship. It just shows how even as one of the richest people in the world, he is still relatable in looking to help those that need a little inspiration.
