Christina Aguilera has been returning to relevance since her role as a judge on the hit TV show The Voice. However, she has been in the industry for decades now and this lived a large chunk of her life in the spotlight. Despite this, there are still some facts about the singer that people don’t know. Number Thirteen: She Won Her First Talent Show When She Was Eight

When Aguilera was just eight years old, she won her very first talent show. She performed Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me).”

Number Twelve: Christina Aguilera Is Influenced by Etta James

Aguilera is said that James is incredibly important to her life. She said, “Etta is my all-time favorite singer. I’ve said it for the last seven years – since I had my first debut record out – in every interview.” Aguilera is also influenced by Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding and Billie Holiday.

Number Eleven: She Got Her Alter-Ego From a Movie

Aguilera got her alter-ego from the 1962 thriller, What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?. In the movie, the character Jane Hudson, played by Bette Davis, plays an aging child star who must take care of her sister, played by Joan Crawford, who is in a wheelchair. Aguilera’s alter-ego is that of Baby Jane.

Number Ten: She Inspired Lady Gaga

Though Lady Gaga may be queen now, she used to get her inspiration from Aguilera. She has said that Aguilera’s song, “I Turn To You,” inspired her to improve her vocal range.

Number Nine: Her Underwear Is Expensive

But it’s not her fault. The satin thong that Aguilera wore for her 2003 Maxim cover was bought for more than $1,500 after she wore it.

Number Eight: Christina Aguilera Was Acting Before She Hit it Big

In 1999, Aguilera was actually on an episode of Beverly Hills 90210. She has since done numerous acting gigs, and her latest television role has been as a judge/coach on The Voice.

In 2009’s film, Nine, Kate Hudson plays the character of Stephanie. However, the role was originally supposed to be played by Aguilera, but she passed on it.

Number Six: She Got a Record Deal Thanks to Disney

Aguilera performed the song “Reflection” for Disney’s animated film Mulan. The song was such a big hit that it earned Aguilera her very first record deal with RCA. She went on to release her self-titled album in 1999.
