Dinosaurs are some of the most fascinating creatures on the planet. Though they have long been extinct, dinosaurs continue to be studied and are still a subject of much debate among archaeologists and historians today. Here, we present our list of the op 10 craziest species of dinosaur currently known today. Prepare to be shocked and amused – check the list out for yourself below!
Number Ten: The Kosmoceratops
The Kosmoceratops features a head full of strangely-shaped horns and flaps. This dinosaur likely lived on an isolated island and, because of this, evolved in a uniquely bizarre way that makes it stand out fro every other dinosaur.
Number Nine: The Kulindadromeus
Next on our list is the Kulindadromeus, which has a special feature seen on very few dinos – feathers! The Kulindadromeus has a special ancestry as well; rather than other feather-sporting dinosaurs that were theropods, the Kulindadromeus was an ornithopod and came from dinosaurs previously believed to be covered in scaly skin.
Number Eight: The Nothronychus
This weird dino has large claws and a big belly and probably feasted on an exclusively herbivorous diet. This is quite strange, considering it comes from the same family as raptors and tyrannosaurs.
Number Seven: The Qianzhousaurus
The Qianzhousaurus is also known as “Pinocchio Rex” because of its long, pointy snout. However, while other dinos with similar snouts used them to fish in rivers, this guy snacked on terrestrial prey, so it’s unclear why he had a nose like that.
Number Six: The Yutyrannus
The Yutyrannus was a tyrannosaur that was amazingly covered in bright yellow feathers. As if a T-rex isn’t scary enough to think about, just imagining to running into one covered in feathers! That’s the Yutyrannus for you.
Number Five: The Tsintaosaurus
The Tsintaosaurus had a rather unfortunate structure on its face that slightly resembles a phallus. The structure was most likely used for defensive purposes, but it doesn’t actually look very intimidating.
Number Four: The Linhenykus
Similar to the T-rex, the Linheykus had extremely tiny arms disproportionate to its body. Its arms, which are more like stubs, were probably used for balance and not much else.
Number Three: The Ouranosaurus
Another dinosaur with misshapen arms, the Ouranosaurus had arms that were too short to walk on, but it couldn’t stand because of the curvature of its spine. The dinosaur looks incredibly awkward, sort of like an angry grandpa with back problems.
Number Two: One of the Weirdest Dinosaurs – The Gigantoraptor
Second on our list is the Gigantoraptor, which essentially resembles a huge chicken. The Gigantoraptor was covered in feathers and often grew to heights of 16 feet or taller.
Number One: The Incisivosaurus
Finally, the craziest dinosaur has to be the Incisivosaurus, which looks like a terrifying zombie ostrich. The dinosaur had huge claws; however, it couldn’t even fly! Thanks for reading!
