The human body is one of the most fascinating things on the planet. From blowing your nose to being to able to breathe through your lungs, your body is able to do a number of astonishing things. However, as well as being mind-blowingly brilliant, the human body is also capable of behaving a little strangely. Here are seven of the weirdest things the human body can do.
Number Seven: Your Pupils Can Reveal Your Inner Thoughts
Your eyes can tell people a lot about what you are thinking, especially when you are in love. Doctors have stated that when you are attracted to someone it is common for your pupils to dilate. So next time you are quite partial to someone and you don’t want them to find out, make sure you wear sunglasses!
Number Six: Your Senses Let You Time Travel
Sadly time travel is not yet physically possible; however, your senses, especially your sense of smell, can trigger certain memories from the past. Smells such as fragrances, spices, and your grandmother’s cooking can instantly bring you back to another time. This can also happen with the other senses, but it is much more apparent with smell.
Number Five: Your Body Can Predict The Weather
If you have ever had a migraine, then you know that it’s the absolute worst. However, they might just come in handy one day. Research suggests that many migraine sufferers may actually be sensitive to a change in the weather. Doctors have explained that when the weather changes it can somehow mess up the brain’s chemicals, thus instigating a migraine. This also goes for your joints, which can become more achy and sensitive in extreme weather situations. So remember, if it’s a sunny hot day and you suddenly feel a thump in your temples, be sure to find an umbrella!
Number Four: You Can Suddenly Gain Super Human Strength When Scared
Have you ever wanted to be a real life superhero? Well, it’s possible! When you feel threatened or sense that you are in danger, the adrenaline in your body begins to rush, which then leads to your heart. Due to the adrenaline rush, you instantly begin to feel much stronger. With stories of people lifting cars to free others in extreme danger, it makes you wonder how scared you would have to be to gain such super strength.
Number Three: The Human Body Can Turn Into A Tree
When a Bangladeshi man was admitted to hospital with large bark-like warts on his hands and feet people began to panic. “Tree man” as he was affectionately known was diagnosed with Epidermodysplasia Verruciformis, a rare skin disorder that makes your skin look like the bark of a tree. Interestingly, the condition is caused by an infection with the Human Papillomavirus, which is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases. So remember kids, practice safe sex!
Number Two: Your Body Works Just As Hard When It’s Asleep
People tend to think that when we are sleeping, so is our body; however, nothing could be further from the truth. As well as scripting your dreams and flushing your kidneys, your body is also temporarily paralyzed to stop you from acting out your dreams. However, if you are unlucky you may suffer from sleep paralysis, which occurs just before you fall asleep or when you wake up. Sleep paralysis renders sufferers unable to talk, react or move, while at the same time they hallucinate that there is an intruder or alien in the room. Sweet dreams!
Number One: Your Body Is Still Partying When You’re Gone
After you die, your body continues to do the strangest things. From dead body farts and death erection to coffin birth and pooing yourself, the possibilities are seemingly endless. However, despite common belief, your fingernails don’t actually keep growing after you die, but instead the skin on your fingers and toes shrink back, revealing more of the nail. Thanks for reading!
