Angry Birds: 15 Things You Didn't Know (Part 2)

We already brought you part one of our list of 15 things you didn’t know about Angry Birds, and now we’re back with part two! Check out eight more fascinating facts about the video game franchise that you definitely (probably) did not know below. You might be surprised by what you find out!

Number Eight: It Has a Host of Celebrity Fans. Celebrities such as David Cameron, Kylie Minogue, Conan O’Brien, and Jon Hamm have all admitted to being fans of Angry Birds.

Number Seven: It Took Eight Months to Make. The game was such a low priority for the company that it took four people eight months to make the game. However, it took the game just two and a half hours to top Apple’s App Store charts.

Number Six: It Cost About $100,000 to Make. Though the game didn’t cost very much to make, its profits have been sky-high, so clearly the game’s creators did something right.

Number Five: It Has Been Made Into a Religion. Giridhari Dasa, who belongs to the International Society for Krishna Consciousness of Brazil, wrote a five-part series titled Angry Birds Yoga – How to Eliminate the Green Pigs in Your Life.

Number Four: Rovio’s Spokesperson is the “Mighty Eagle.” Angry Birds was created by a Finnish company called Rovio (mentioned in part one of this list), and the company’s spokesman, Peter Vesterbacka, holds the job title of “Mighty Eagle.” Looks like he’s not such an angry bird.

Number Three: It’s Getting a Movie. In may of 2016, Columbia Pictures will release an Angry Birds movie! The movie will be animated and stars Jason Sudeikis and Danny McBride.

Number Two: It Went Through a Leaky Controversy. In 2014, information was released that revealed the app to be “leaky,” meaning relevant and personal user information was used to collect user data.

Number One: It Is the Most Successful Freemium Game Series of All Time. As of 2015, Angry Birds has been downloaded more than three billion times. This makes it the number one most successful freemium (can play for free, but extra features cost money) game series of all time! We hope you enjoyed our list of 15 things you didn’t know about Angry Birds!
