Art of the Smoothie: 15 Things You Didn’t Know (Part 2)

We filled you in with the first set of seven things you didn’t know about the art of the smoothie, and now we have finally come back with part two! Smoothies have become a refreshing hit in today’s dietary preferences, and we are here to fill you in on everything that you are missing out on. To discover the top eight things that you didn’t know about the art of the smoothie, just read along!

Number Eight: Go Green

If there is nothing green in your smoothies, you are doing something wrong. Our bodies thrive from the consumption of chlorophyll, and the addition will work to aid in absorbing the nourishment from your smoothies. Kale and spinach are the best recommendations, but these can also be substituted with spirulina tablets or chlorella powder. The best part is, you won’t even notice you’re eating your vegetables!

Number Seven: Keep It Simple

Even with master smoothie pioneers, a larger array of ingredients can lead to culinary disaster. Unless your inner culinarian is really dying to get out, limiting the number of ingredients is a sure-fire way to ensure the perfect taste.

Number Six: The Smoothie Formula

If you find that you might be smoothie-impaired, don’t you worry one bit. Smoothie researchers have composed the formula for the ideal smoothie to help people with your, uh, “unique” problem. Just stick to these ingredients: milk or juice base, protein, greens, fat, spices, fruit or healthy sweeter.

Number Five: Blender Game

Using the right blender is one of the key factors in making the best smoothies you have ever had- and, using it in the right way. You may assume that a blender with round sides are better for blending, but this shape is actually responsible for making an air-bubble vortex that will cause problems in the blending process. Instead, opt for a blender that has cornered sides.

Number Four: Blend Slow and Steady

Add the liquid first, and add your other ingredients. When it’s time to blend, start at a low speed and progressively add more power. If you blend too quickly, this will also create the dreaded air bubble.

Number Three: Frozen vs. Fresh

When pursuing the perfect blended beverage, frozen is always better than fresh. Yes, it is possible to make a delicious creation by using fresh fruit if you’re desperate. However, it will not produce the same icy-yet-creamy texture that is key to the best smoothies. Skip the ice!

Number Two: Adult Smoothies

Ever tried your hand at creating an adult smoothie? That’s right, even smoothies can add a delicious twist to your occasional imbibing. In fact, you probably didn’t even know that your beloved daiquiris are actually a smoothie in disguise.

Number One: Chicken Smoothies Are a Thing

As weird as it may seem, people have begun to coin the term “chicken smoothie”, referring to chicken meat that has been blended into a paste. We don’t exactly recommend trying this unique creation. We hope you enjoyed discovering the top 15 things that you didn’t know about the art of the smoothie!
