At first glance, a baby monkey and a tiger cub wouldn’t seem to have much in common. However, these two have managed to become best friends. You’ll become obsessed with these adorable photos of them playing together!
20. The Zoo
The Hefei Wild Zoo is located in China. This zoo happens to have a wide variety of animals that visitors can see. However, there are two animals in particular that have captivated many.
19. Unusual Friendship
A baby rhesus monkey and a tiger cub have recently been introduced to one another. One would instantly think that this would be a deathly introduction, however, that’s not how these two see it. They’ve managed to become best friends. The next photo is adorable!
The baby monkey, whose name is Taoqi, is a quite playful little animal. When he was first brought to the tiger cub he immediately approached him without any fear. If only we could all be this brave!
17. No Fear
Photographers recently captured some stunning photos of the two interacting. As you can see, Taoqi has no problem with getting right in the baby tiger’s face. The tiger, however, doesn’t seem to mind.
16. Monkey Population
The rhesus monkey “is one of the best-known species of Old World monkeys.” Geographically speaking, they also have the largest nonhuman range of any primate. This makes the species itself incredibly unique and you won’t believe why!
15. Close Vicinity
Throughout history, the rhesus monkey has stayed pretty close to humans. They’ve often been noted to interact with humans and live amongst them. However, Taoqi has decided to shake things up and be a wild card of the bunch with his tiger cub interactions.
14. More Odd Pairings
Although it is pretty rare for animals of different species to become friends, it does happen more often than you’d think! You won’t believe how one chimpanzee’s motherly instinct kicked in for a bunch of abandoned tiger cubs!
13. A Sweet Chimp
Meet Anjana, a chimpanzee that lives at The Institute of Greatly Endangered and Rare Species (TIGERS) in South Carolina, in the U.S. She has lived there all her life, however, unlike the other chimpanzee’s, Anjana has a secret hobby…
12. Taking Care
You might not believe it, but Anjana actually takes care of many of the orphaned tiger cubs that show up to the animal sanctuary. So how did this happen? Well, it all began with her watching her caretaker feed and care for the cubs.
11. Great Learner
Park director Dr Bhagavan Antle said: “Chimpanzees are great learners and imitators so it wasn’t long before she took on the right behaviors that were necessary to keep the kittens in line.” That’s how Anjana became a surrogate mother to two cubs in particular.
10. Two Tiger Cubs
Two tiger cubs named Mitra and Shiva were born at the animal sanctuary however a bad situation caused them to be separated from their mother. This left them orphaned without a mother figure in their lives.
“Mitra and Shiva, were born during Hurricane Hannah,” said Dr Bhagavan, founder of TIGERS. “During that time everything flooded in the sanctuary and they had to be moved into the house as their mother became stressed.”
“It was important for their safety that they were separated.” China, animal caregiver of the sanctuary, started looking after them. This is how Anjana started to pick up on the caring behavior that she soon began to display.
7. Her Role
“China’s role means that she is care giver to hundreds of animals when they are born. Anjana has been with China, side by side, ever since she was born and has joined her in caring and raising baby animals.”
6. Mommy Behavior
“She gives them a bottle, lies with them and acts as a surrogate mother. She has a close contact and bond and gives them a nurturing.” China and Anjana have been very close ever since the chimpanzee was born. So her mimicking China’s behavior was almost to be expected!
5. Many More
Anjana has become so good at her role that she has even been given responsibility over another animal. She recently started watching over a puma cub. She adores the many babies at the sanctuary.
4. Loving Mama
“She has raised leopards, lions, orangutans,” said Dr Bhagavan. “Monkey see as monkey do, and she has taken on this copycat personality and helps China raise the animals.”
“If you need a baby wipe you can just tell her and she’ll run off and get it.” Anjana’s love and dedication for the many baby animals at the sanctuary is incredibly inspiring.
2. Nature’s Peculiarities
It is pretty interesting to see animals from such different species relate to each other. These animal relationships just go to show how animals are willing to overlook each other’s differences to see the beauty underneath.
It is heartwarming to see such wonderful animal friendships and relationship dynamics. It can serve as a better example to us all to not judge a book by its cover.
