Beyonce has become somewhat of a god for many young people today. Not only is she a feminist icon, but she is also a loving mother, husband, and insanely talented performer. Though she has been in the public eye for the majority of her life, there are still some things that even the most hardcore of Beyonce fans don’t know. Number Fifteen: She Was Born in the Third Ward of Houston. In the 1970s, Houston’s Third Ward became the hub for the African-American community. In Bey’s video for “Pretty Hurts,” she can be seen portraying a beauty queen from that neighborhood.
Number Fourteen: She Descends From Joseph Broussard. Broussard was the leader of the Acadians through the Indian War and the French War. Broussard is also known as Beausoleil. He was considered to be a hero.
Number Thirteen: She Won Her First Talent Show When She Was Seven Years Old. Queen Bey beat out 16 and even 17-year-olds when she won her first talent show at the tender age of seven. To win the show, she sung “Imagine,” by John Lennon.
Number Twelve: Her Favorite Number Is Four. There are several reasons why Beyonce’s favorite number is four. For starters, she was born on September 4. Tina Knowles, her mother, was born on January 4, and Jay-Z, her husband, was born on December 4. The two even got married on April 4, 2008!
Number Eleven: She Has Been Nominated for More Grammys Than Any Other Woman. And she has won 20 Grammys! Girl’s got talent.
Number Ten: She Helped Launch a Twitter Record. When Beyonce announced her pregnancy at the 2011 MTV VMAs, a Twitter record was made. That moment holds the spot in the Guinness Book of World Records for the most tweets per second, at 8,868 tweets per second.
Number Nine: Her Visual Album Broke an iTunes Record. In its first three days after its release, Beyonce’s self-titled album sold 828,773 copies. This broke the record of being the fastest-selling album on iTunes, which was previously held by Justin Timberlake.
