Beyonce made Forbes‘ 100 Most Powerful Women list, again. The multiple Grammy-winning singer was ranked Number 18 on the list, which is this year’s highest-ranking entertainer. “Beyonce also took the top spot on last year’s Celebrity 100 list after earning big from her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour and the surprise release of her self-titled album,” Forbes magazine wrote. The profile continued,”Over the past 12 months, Beyonce has picked up right where she left off. Last summer’s On The Run tour with husband Jay Z grossed about $100 million for 19 North American shows, giving music’s first couple a nightly average on par with the Rolling Stones.”
Taylor Swift also made Forbes‘ list this year by coming in at Number 64. Swift, who is 25 years old, is the youngest person to make this year’s list. “The singer-songwriter completed her transition from country starlet to pop superstar with the launch of album 1989 last fall, the top-selling release of the year with over 3.5 million copies sold- making her one of only three artists with a platinum album in 2014,” Forbes‘ profile on Swift read. Forbes also acknowledged the pop singer’s rebellious attitude towards Spotify, for which she removed all of her music from the music streaming service. “That new state of affairs is partly due to the rise of streaming, a distribution system of which Swift has become one of the most outspoken critics, pulling her music from Spotify in November,” Forbes magazine stated. Last year, Swift was ranked Number 18 on Forbes‘ Celebrity 100 list.
Some of the other notable people on Forbes‘ 100 Most Powerful Women list include Angela Merkel at Number 1, Hillary Clinton at Number 2, Michelle Obama at Number 10, Oprah Winfrey at Number 12, Ellen DeGeneres at Number 50, Angelina Jolie at Number 54, Sofia Vergara at Number 57, and Shakira at Number 81.
