Billboard Music Awards Reveal More Performers

The 2015 Billboard Music Awards will be held on May 17th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena (Las Vegas, NV). The event will air on ABC at 8pm (Eastern standard time). Billboard just revealed more performers for this year’s event. John Legend, Ed Sheeran, Kelly Clarkson, and Meghan Trainor will all grace the awards’ show stage. The magazine announced last week that Sam Smith, Hozier, Nick Jonas, and Wiz Khalifa will be performing at the event as well.

Rapper Ludacris and model Chrissy Teigen will co-host the Billboard Music Awards this year. Taylor Swift leads all artists with fourteen nominations this year, some of which include Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album (1989), Top Hot 100 Song (“Shake It Off), and Top Digital Song (“Shake It Off”). Sam Smith managed to rack up thirteen nominations including Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Artist, Top Radio Song (“Stay With Me”), and Top Hot 100 Song (“Stay With Me”). The other top nominees at the Billboard awards include Iggy Azalea, who earned twelve nominations, and Meghan Trainor with nine nominations. The three nominees in the fan-voted Billboard Chart Achievement category include Swift, Azalea, and Trainor.

Some of the artists in Top New Artist category include 5 Seconds of Summer, Sam Smith, and Hozier. Smith is also nominated for Top Artist along with Ariana Grande, One Direction, and Katy Perry. Some of the women nominated for Top Female Artist include Meghan Trainor, Katy Perry, and Iggy Azalea. 5 Seconds of Summer, MAGIC!, and Florida Georgia Line are some of the groups nominated for Top Duo/Group. The artists in the Top Billboard 200 category include Pentatonix, Ed Sheeran, and Taylor Swift.

This year’s album categories include Maroon 5’s V, Pentatonix’s That’s Christmas to Me, and Ed Sheeran’s X in the Top Billboard 200 Album category. While Beyonce’s self-titled album, Chris Brown’s X, and Pharrell Williams’ GIRL are some of the nominees in the Top R&B Album category. The Top Soundtrack nominees are The Fault in Our Stars, Fifty Shades of Grey, and Into the Woods. Jason Aldean’s Old Boots, New Dirt, Garth Brooks’ Man Against Machine, and Miranda Lambert’s Platinum are some of the projects nominated for Top Country Album.
