This morning saw a very unique announcement by rock duo The Black Keys regarding their World Tour.  The comical video presents itself as a press conference with much of the audience laughing at the fragile self-esteem of the band.  The tour will feature music from their upcoming album Turn Blue while also playing favorites from their thirteen year history.

Fever”, the first single off the new album, has already received much attention and radio play.  So far it has peaked at #1 on the US Adult Alternative Songs Billboard and #77 on the Hot 100 overall.  The full album is set to be released on May 13th.

The tour will start out on September 5th in Columbus, make its way through eery major city, and then finally close at the Kansas City Sprint Center on December 21st.  Although it is touted as a “World Tour” the only other country visited by The Black Keys will be Canada.

Formed in Akron, Ohio in 2001 by guitarist/vocalist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney, The Black Keys have been very popular since their 2010 breakout album, Brothers.  The hit single Tighten Up scored The Black keys three Grammy Awards leading to their successful El Camino tour, which lasted until 2013.  Fans have eagerly awaited a follow up and The Black Keys are not ones to keep their public waiting.

The tour will also feature Saint Vincent and Cage the Elephant as opening bands.  Saint Vincent is an indie-pop favorite while Cage the Elephant is perhaps best known for their hit “Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked” made famous by its appearance in the video game Borderlands.  It is unknown at this time how much of the tour will feature these two openers.

Check out their announcement video here and visit their website in order to reserve tickets and learn more about the band.
