Blake Shelton has the longest number one streak on the Billboard Country Airplay chart. The country singer’s “Lonely Tonight” (featuring Ashley Monroe) is his fourteenth consecutive song to reach the top of the chart. “Lonely Tonight” is also Shelton’s nineteenth Number 1 song overall. His consecutive number one streak dates all the way back to 2010, when he topped the charts with “Hillbilly Bone” featuring Trace Adkins

Blake Shelton is also utilizing his accomplishments in country music, in order to help him attain success on NBC’s The Voice. Shelton is a celebrity coach on the hit music competition show, for which he has won four of the last seven seasons. Season eight of The Voice premiered last month, and it marked the return of Christina Aguilera. The pop singer hasn’t been a coach on the show since the fifth season, but Aguilera said she was more than ready to return to The Voice. The show had made a several changes to the format, including a new wildcard system for eliminated contestants.

Aguilera is one of the original celebrity coaches on the show, and she said the producers have always made changes to The Voice. “Since I have been with the show since day one, I can say that each time I come back I feel like there are more additions that just work,” the singer stated. By now, Aguilera said the show runs very smoothly and she felt comfortable jumping right back into the coach’s chair. Although this is the first time she will work alongside Pharrell Williams on The Voice, Aguilera revealed she loves his presence on the show. The pop singer said he brings a calm to the show, and she highly respects his musical talents. Aguilera also confirmed she is currently working on a song with Williams in the recording studio.

The pop singer will also make an appearance on ABC’s Nashville television series. Aguilera will play the role of a pop singer who has dreams of being a country music artist. The singer is hoping her role on Nashville will give her insight in country music, which may help her compete against Blake Shelton on The Voice. The singer jokingly acknowledged that her fellow Voice coach, Blake Shelton, is known for using his country music credentials to get contestants to join his winning team.
