Bleachers, Bowie, Twin Peaks, The Cure and More Among Record Store Day 2018 Releases

Now in its 11th year, Record Store Day is fast approaching. Audiophiles are preparing for the event both in the United States and overseas that’s held on April 21. The annual celebration of vinyl features a number of limited-edition releases, and this year is no exception with releases for every genre or taste. You’ll be able to get exciting vinyl releases, singles and special editions at your local record store. The master list of special releases for Record Store Day 2018 is long so we decided to feature some of the releases you don’t want to miss in pop, country, and more. David Bowie – Welcome To The Blackout (Live in London ’78) and Other Releases

There are several David Bowie records being released for Record Store Day 2018. A previously unreleased LP, Welcome to the Blackout was recorded June 30 and July 1, 1978 by Visconti. It’s a 3 LP set with a trifold sleeve and was mixed at Mountain Studios, Montreux in January 1979.

Bowie Now is the first commercial release of a 1977 promotional vinyl with tracks from Low and Heroes. David Bowie is a Record Store Day first on red and blue colored vinyl with the Mono version on 1 disc and the Stereo. Finally, there’s Let’s Dance (Full Length Demo), a 45 rpm 12’’ single with the full length demo of the beloved track coming in 7 minutes and 34 seconds.

The Cure – Mixed Up

Robert Smith remastered this limited edition double LP picture set disc of the 1990 remix album, and it’s the first appearance on vinyl. The worldwide run is set at 7,750, so you may have trouble getting your hands on it. Tracks include “Love Song,” “Pictures of You,” and other tracks, so it’s a must -have for The Cure fans.

Twin Peaks – The Limited Event Soundtrack

With 20 tracks from the new Twin Peaks series, this new picture disc LP features the familiar red curtains of the “red room,” and is a worldwide run of 11,00. ” The tracklisting promises Roadhouse band performances and more.  An LP is also available for the score.

Lady Antebellum – Heart Break

The country superstars will release their first Record Store Day single with Heart Break with 3 tracks from their album and a special acoustic piano version of “Heart Break” on 7” inch red pressed vinyl — a limited edition of only 500 copies.

Bleachers – MTV Unplugged

MTV Unplugged is still going strong since its inception in 1989, and this year, they’ll have the MTV Unplugged version of Bleachers on vinyl for Record Store Day. The album was recorded in September 2017 in Asbury Park, New Jersey and includes 11 tracks, among them new material and “alternate versions.”

Johnny Cash – At Folsom Prison

One of the most iconic records in country music is getting a Record Store Day release box set. The box set has both full concerts recorded in 1968 and individually-designed LP jackets inside a hardshell slipcase with a booklet and a bonus single of rehearsal audio.  

Linkin Park – One More Night Live

Linkin Park’s live album, One More Night, is hitting vinyl for the first time just for Record Store Day. The album features gold and black design with just 3,250 copies pressed.

Courtney Barnett – The Double EP: A Sea of Split PeasA double set consisting of I’ve Got a Friend Called Emily Ferris and How to Carve a Carrot into a Rose, this Record Store Day release is a special edition of the 2014 release. The LP is a picture disc edition and features a Mom + Pop 10 year poster, temporary tattoo and a digital download.
