Brandon Flowers to Top UK Albums Chart This Week

Brandon Flowers has the Number 1 album in the UK with The Desired Effect project. This marks the rocker’s second solo chart-topper; his other Number 1 project is entitled Flamingo. The Desired Effect features the singles “Can’t Deny My Love,” “Still Want You,” “Lonely Town,” and “I Can Change.” The lead single, “Can’t Deny My Love,” reached Number 28 on the US Rock Digital Songs chart, and it impacted the singles charts in the UK and Belgium. His latest single entitled “I Can Change” was dropped earlier this month.

Flowers’ Flamingo album was his first solo debut. Not only did it peak at the top of the UK Albums chart when it was released five years ago, but it also went to Number 1 in Scotland. Riding high off the success of its singles “Crossfire,” “Only the Young,” and “Jilted Lovers & Broken Hearts,” Flamingoalso impacted the Billboard 200 Albums chart at Number 8. To date, the project has sold over 100,000 copies, which classifies as Gold in the UK.

As the lead singer of The Killers, the rocker has dropped six studio albums including Hot Fuss, Sam’s Town, Sawdust, Day & Age, Battle Born, and Direct Hits. The band’s latest album entitled Direct Hits was dropped two years ago. The project is comprised of some of The Killer’s biggest hits including “Smile Like You Mean It,” “When You Were Young,” “Read My Mind,” “Spaceman,” “A Dustland Fairytale,” and more. Direct Hits also features two new songs, which include “Shot at the Night” and “Just Another Girl.”

“Shot at the Night” was used as the theme song for last year’s NCAA college basketball tournament famously named March Madness. The hit single also impacted four charts in the US including the Alternative Songs at Number 20, Hot Rock Songs and Adult Alternative Songs at Number 22, and the Rock Airplay chart at Number 25. Rolling Stone magazine named “Shot at the Night” one of the 100 Best Songs of 2013. The follow-up single entitled “Just Another Girl” also faired-well on the music charts. It reached Number 23 on the US Rock Digital Songs chart, and it also peaked at Number 50 on the US Rock Songs chart.
