BTS Continues Takeover of Pop Music With First English Single

BTS have released their first full English song thanks to a collaboration with Steve Aoki. “Waste It On Me” is sure to be another hit for the record-breaking j-pop band. Aoki and BTS previously worked together on the song “Mic Drop” in early 2018. That remix was on the band’s album Love Yourself: Answer. The video for the song has racked up an amazing 365 million views on YouTube.

Aoki’s statement said he loved working with the Korean boyband. “I’m so psyched to share this collaboration with one of the most exciting and inspiring group of guys I’ve met in the past few years.”
In a statement, BTS said the collaboration was very meaningful to them:“We’re happy for this meaningful and heartfelt collaboration. The song is just so amazing, we really enjoyed working on it. It’s our first song that is entirely in English. It was refreshing and fun to record the song. We hope this would be a good present for our fans.”

The BTS song will be on Aoki’s new album, Neon Future III, which is set to drop on November 9. The tracklist for Neon Future III includes collaborations with many pop icons:

‘Neon Future III (Intro)’

The track continued a newsy day for Aoki, as he revealed the collaboration for the first time on Twitter. “surprise we’re back! got a new collab w/ my brothers @BTS_twt coming at u tomorrow!! who wants to hear it now?? Tweet #WasteItOnMe to unlock a preview!”

There is an insatiable market for all things BTS at the moment so the single is sure to be well-received. This is BTS’ first new song since Love Yourself: Answer. BTS made it to Time magazine earlier this month as one of their Next Generation Leaders. They even made the cover of a special addition. BTS rapper RM said it was “an honour to be called an ambassador for Korean K-Pop.”

The band is moving past Asia and booking shows around the world. They had a smashing debut in the UK with two gigs at London’s the O2 on October 9 and 10. They also became the first Koreans to perform in an American stadium, appearing at New York’s Citi Field.

BTS will next hit the big screen as part of a documentary released on November 15. The documentary Burn The Stage takes a backstage look of the boyband during their 2017 tour. It is said to feature plenty of new footage for j-pop fans.
