Number Five: The Name

If you didn’t already know, the name “Chihuahua” is actually the name of a Mexican state. Depictions of dogs that looked just like this breed were found in artistic paintings and carvings on pots when the region was excavated by archaeologists, so they named the breed for the resemblance.

Number Four: The Original Name

Although, they didn’t always receive their name from the Mexican territory. In early America, people had issues with the spelling, pronunciation, and origin of the title “Chihuahua”. So instead, they were simply known as the Arizona Dog.

Number Three: Yo Quiero Taco Bell

Remember the Taco Bell Chihuahua? He is possibly one of the most iconic fast food mascots in history. Why they got rid of him, we will never know; he worked wonders in improving the sales of both the fast food chain and the dog breed for 15 years. If you didn’t already know, his name was Gidget.
