In the past few days, band members from both Deerhunter and Green Day have faced sudden and serious health concerns. On Thursday, Deerhunter frontman Bradford Cox was hit by a car and hospitalized in “incredible pain.” The next day, Green Day revealed that guitarist Jason White was recently diagnosed with tonsil cancer.

Deerhunter: Bradford Cox made fans aware of the car accident through Instagram, with photos taken from the trauma center at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. His first post showed him in a neck brace and was briefly captioned, “Was hit by car.” The second was a picture of his father asleep in the hospital, with the update, “Still waiting for X-ray results or any real diagnoses. Can’t move much. Incredible pain. Thank The Lord God I am here and my dad is here with me.”

Fans of the indie rocker began reaching out with moving responses, related specifically to the impact of his music. One supporter said, “Listening to your music on the way home from work makes me forget about the worst days I have had.” Others shared similar sentiments, writing, “Within the last few months, your albums have become very important to me in a very meaningful way…please stay safe and heal up,” and “your music has healed me on many occasions. here’s some healing vibes back at ya. be well soon!”

Green Day: The band posted a statement about White’s condition via social media, as well as a press release on their website. “We have some news to report regarding our brother Jason White, and wanted you to hear it from us before word spread. Jason recently underwent a routine tonsillectomy, and his doctors discovered a treatable form of tonsil cancer. Thankfully they caught it early and he should make a full and speedy recovery. Please join us in sending him love and positive healing vibes during this time.”

The post has already received tens of thousands of likes on Facebook, and countless have responded with blessings, well wishes, and positive thoughts for the musician. Included in the comments were hashtags like #kissmyasscancer and #f***cancer.
