Fans of Destiny’s Child will be thrilled to see the reunion of all three members for Michelle Williams’s new music video “Say Yes”. The trio had already record the song together earlier this year but this morning the video was unveiled on Good Morning America for the world to see. So far reception has been very warm, with many critics praising the high energy of the video and how each of the ladies powerful voices are used to their fullest.

The song is an upbeat Gospel/Pop melody that celebrates the Christian side of Destiny’s Child. Williams reworked the current version from an “old African song that’s been around for about 100 years. When writing it, Williams told US weekly that working again as a group ““was so much fun. No matter what, with our three voices together, there’s no harmony like that.” She also commented that, “The blend… there’s something spiritual about it.”

Williams joined Destiny’s Child in 1998, replacing LaTavia Roberson and LeToya Luckett. Prior to this, Williams had found modest success as a backup singer for artists Farrah Franklin and Monica. With fellow members Beyonce Knowles and Kelly Rowland (now better known as Solange), Destiny’s Child dominated the next few years with number one hits “Independent Woman Part I” and “Bootylicious”. Soon after that, the band took a three year hiatus, coming back in 2005 to record on final aptly titled album Destiny Fulfilled.

Since the break Williams has branched out into musical theatre with lead roles in the 2003 Broadway Production of Aida, the National Tour of The Color Purple and the West End production of Chicago. Throughout these time commitments Williams found the time to become a prominent Gospel artist. She found the most mainstream solo success in her 2008 album Unexpected which produced two Dance hits in “We Break Dawn” and “The Greatest” despite disappointing sales.

As of writing this the video has yet to make it into Youtube, but it can still be viewed via certain independent players that can be found here.
Destiny’s Child has made the odd reunion every year or so but nothing on the level of this newest Music Video.
