DMX Sent to Jail For Unpaid Child Support

DMX was just sentenced to six months in jail after failing to pay child support. The rapper was arrested in June, right before he hit the stage at Radio City Music Hall in New York (NY), and he was sentenced on July 14th. According to reports, DMX owes more than $400,000 in back child support, and so a warrant was issued for his arrest by the city of White Plains (NY).

Back in April, a man claimed DMX robbed him at a gas station in Newark (NJ). The alleged victim called the police, and said he and the rapper were discussing music when someone from DMX’s entourage pulled a gun on him and demanded money. The victim said he gave the rapper $3200, and then DMX grabbed the money and sped off in a black Cadillac Escalade. An investigation took place, but there was not evidence to charge DMX with any crime. Therefore, no charges were filed regarding the Newark (NJ) robbery incident.

DMX has been arrested multiple times throughout his music career. He was arrested for drug possession in 2000, and the rapper served 15 days in jail. The following year, DMX was arrested again for drug possession and driving on a suspended license. Perhaps his most bizarre arrest was in 2004 when he was charged with impersonating a federal agent at John F. Kennedy International Airport. He was also charged with attempting to carjack a vehicle, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, possession of a weapon, criminal mischief, and cocaine possession. In the last five years, DMX has been in and out of jail for numerous charges, some of which include aggravated assault, animal cruelty, theft, and driving with a suspended license.

Even with all of his legal woes, DMX has continued to release studio albums. During his career, he has dropped seven albums including It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot, Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood, …And Then There’s Was X, The Great Depression, Grand Champ, Year of the Dog…Again, and Undisputed. Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Bloodwas released in 1998, and it reached Number 1 on the Billboard 200. After selling over 670,000 copies in its debut week, the project eventually sold three million copies in the US.
