Dolly Parton: 15 Things You Didn’t Know (Part 2)

We already brought you part one of our list of 15 things you probably did not know about Dolly Parton, and now we’re back with part two! Check out eight more fascinating facts about the country singer and musician that you definitely (probably) did not know below. You might be surprised by what you find out!

Number Eight: She Has Her Own Statue. Parton’s hometown of Sevierville, Tennessee loves her so much that they made a statue in her likeness. The life-size statue is made of bronze and depicts Parton sitting on a rock with a guitar.

Number Seven: The First Cloned Sheep Was Named After Her. The first successfully cloned sheep was made in 1995, and it was named Dolly – after Dolly Parton, of course. The sheep was named after her because the clone was derived from a mammary gland cell, and Parton admittedly has some notable mammary glands.

Number Six: She Rejected Elvis. When Parton turned “I Will Always Love You” into a hit, Elvis’ manager contacted her to see if he could cover it. However, because Parton would have to give up half of the song’s publishing rights, she said no.

Number Five: She Has Been Married Since 1966. By today’s standards, that might as well be a million years. Parton’s husband is named Carl Dean, and he is rarely seen in public.

Number Four: She Holds a Country Music Record. An astonishing 26 of Dolly’s singles have hit number one on the country charts, which is more than any other female country artist in the history of time.

Number Three: She Is Open About Her Plastic Surgery. Parton is almost always seen wearing a wig, and she has been honest about the procedures she has done to her body. According to Parton, “If I see something saggin’, baggin’ or draggin’, I’m gonna have it nipped, tucked or sucked.”

Number Two: She Doesn’t Have Any Children. Parton and her husband never had any children together, which might explain why they’ve been able to stay together for so long. She says that every child is her own in one way or another.

Number One: She Has Been on the Cover of PlayboyBut she didn’t bare it all! She was on the cover of Playboy in 1978 and can be seen wearing a bunny costume.
