Fox just revealed its hit show Empire will feature eighteen episodes when it returns next season. After just two episodes, the show was renewed for another season, and it has become the number one show of the season. To date, Empire is the only show to increase its viewership from week to week, and it dominated its Wednesday night time slot by a landslide. The show’s second episode managed to bring in an audience of over 10 million viewers. By the time the show’s first season ended, Empire had an audience of over 17 million viewers a week. The breakout drama even topped shows like NBC’s Law & Order: SVU and NBC’sCriminal Minds. Empire stars Terrence Howard (Lucious Lyon), Taraji P. Henson (Cookie Lyon), Jussie Smollett (Jamal Lyon), and Bryshere Y. Gray (Hakeem Lyon).

The first season of Empire featured guest appearances by Mary J. Blige, Courtney Love, Snoop Dogg, Jennifer Hudson, Estelle, Juicy J, Rita Ora, and many other recording artists. Fox revealed some of the artists that have been booked to make cameos for season two, and those artists include Lenny Kravitz, Alicia Keys, and Ne-Yo. Brandy and Chris Brown also revealed they would love to make an appearance on the show if they were asked to. Empire’s creator Lee Daniels said that so many musicians have contacted him about being on the show, which is the complete opposite of what he experienced before Empire aired.

Daniels said that he had to beg artists to make cameos on the show, and he had a hard time finding artists to agree to make a guest appearance on Empire. Now, Daniels said his phone hasn’t stopped ringing, and artists are dying to be on the show. This year, Daniels was named to Time magazine’s Most Influential People in the World list. Along with the success of the show, the Empire television soundtrack entered the Billboard 200 Albums chart at Number 1. The soundtrack managed to beat Madonna’s Rebel Heart for the Number 1 spot. The project features the singles “Conqueror” by Estelle and Jussie Smollett and “You’re So Beautiful” by Jussie Smollett and Yazz.
