During concerts, artists set out to leave the audience amazed. Some artists take it a little bit further. A few people may argue that they take it a little too far. Still, it always makes for such entertaining performances. But let’s start off with something light.
Carrie Underwood gives a boy his first kiss: In September of 2012, Carrie Underwood was performing in Louisville, Kentucky. While singing, she spotted a sign in the crowd that read “Will you be my first kiss?” Of course, being the country sweetheart that she is, Carrie invited the boy on stage. Once he made it to the stage, Carrie asked him “How are we going to do this?” and twelve-year-old Chase Kurnick responded “lip to lip.” The crowd was humored.
Harry Styles gets de-pantsed: In 2013, One Direction fans got a big surprise when Liam Payne decided to pull a prank. What he actually pulled was Harry Styles‘ trousers, and he pulled them all the way to the stage floor. Harry Styles, of course, remained professional and continued singing “What Makes You Beautiful” without hesitation.
Maynard James Keenan puts a fan in a chokehold: Sometimes fans gets a little out of control too and artists are forced to retaliate. In 2006, Maynard James Keenan of the metal band Tool, choked a fan. The excited fan ran onto the stage to get closer to the band. Keenan then grabbed his back and held him in a headlock. He did this all while continuing to perform his song.
Drake smokes marijuana on stage: This year, while performing in Houston, Texas, rapper Drake decided to smoke on stage. He was performing with Wiz Khalifa, who is well known for smoking on stage. Drake grabbed Khalifa’s joint and stated “I’ve never in my life done this before during a show…f*** it.”
Billy Joe Armstrong lashes out at Clear Channel: During the 2012 iHeart Music Festival in Las Vegas, Billy Joe Armstrong got pretty angry. He was signaled by the concert staff that the band had one minute to wrap it up. This did not sit well with Billy Joe, so he expressed his frustration, saying “You’re going to give me one f***ing minute? You’ve got to be f***ing kidding me.” While the crowd looked around confused, he continued. “It’s a f*** joke.” This outburst turned out to be a turning point for Billy Joe, because afterwards, he checked into a rehab treatment center for substance abuse.
