After years of speculation and numerous dropping of hints, The Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne has announced the Autumn release of With a Little Help From My Fwends.

Designed as a tribute to the iconic 1967 Beatles album Sgt. Pepper Lonely Hearts Club Band, the album will feature a gigantic cover of Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds featuring Miley Cyrus, Moby, and MGMNT. Cyrus will also join Coyne for a duet of A Day in the Life as well. In 2009 The band released a similar tribute cover of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon.

It’s really just a lot of great friends of mine who are all contributing,”Coyne told Rolling Stone, “Sometimes it’s two groups doing a song; sometimes it’s one. And it’s not always the Flaming Lips and someone; sometimes it’s just other groups. But I think all that’s gonna be great.”

It remains to be seen how much of the album will be a tribute and how much will be a reimagining. Pre-orders of the album will come with a free download of the Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds duet featuring Cyrus and Coyne. Cyrus an Coyne have been unlikely friends for quite some time, having collaborated at nightclubs and private venues during their respective careers. Proceeds from the album will be donated to Coyne’s hometown of Oklahoma City’s needed veterinary care.

The album is set for an October 28th release. For a little preview of what to come, here’s Cyrus and The Flaming Lips performing Beatles at a nightclub.
