The Foo Fighters were the musical guest for the Kevin Hart-hosted episode of Saturday Night Live, and while the show  itself was a little weak, the Foo were just as good as they’ve always been. It had been six years since the Foo graced the studio in 8H, and fans eagerly awaited the return of the group. Their wait was met with the rocking medley and rendition of some holiday favorites. The first music break had them play “The Sky is a Neighborhood,” from their new album, Concrete and Gold. The best part of their performance, however, had to be their Christmas medley. Starting with “Everlong,” they switched into “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” and A Charlie Brown Christmas’ “Linus and Lucy.” As the band broke into the Christmas tunes, the lights flashed red and green and snow began falling. At the close was the rocking rendition of “Linus and Lucy” complete with drums. In case you missed it, the band shared the video on their YouTube channel. Foo fans can also catch Dave Grohl in a cameo of the SNL short film “New Year’s Kiss,” which was cut for time from the broadcast.

SNL has had the Foo Fighters on the show before, starting with the first appearance in 1995, followed by 1999, 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2011. The 2007 appearance saw Grohl and Hawkins appear in a SNL Digital Short and the group be named members of the “Five-Timers Club.”

The group made waves in September with a segment of Carpool Karaoke with James Corden for The Late Show with James Corden to promote Concrete and Gold. Another project was the constellation viewer for iPhone and Android devices that will soundtrack your stargazing sessions with a “realistic constellation map in the viewer’s 3D sphere,” complete with constellation identification –  the app was inspired by the song “The Sky is a Neighborhood.”

The album has spawned 2 number-1 singles on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs chart, and the band will embark on a 2018 UK tour which has already sold out with the following dates:

June 5, Ullevi, Gothenburg, Sweden – with GOAT and Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes

June 10, Trabrennbahn, Hamburg, Germany – with The Kills and Wolf Alice

June 11, Sportspaleis, Antwerp, Belgium – with Wolf Alice

June 13, Stade De Suisse, Bern, Switzerland

June 19, Etihad Stadium, Manchester – with Wolf Alice and The Cribs

June 22, London Stadium, London – with Wolf Alice and Frank Carter and The Rattlesnakes

June 23, London Stadium, London – with The Kills, Slaves and Starcrawler

Foo Fighters have been going heavy during their U.S. tour, with a setlist of more than a dozen songs in a recent concert in Spokane, Washington, and playing to more than 750,000 fans nationwide. They’ll next play Las Vegas for New Year’s Eve at The Chelsea in The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.
