Other than making delicious curries and mustard, turmeric has active ingredients that make it perfect for skin care. It could be the one ingredient you need to make your face glow and look perfectly healthy. So in what ways can you use turmeric for face? Let’s start off with how turmeric works well for a skin care. This is just one of the many benefits of turmeric.

Why turmeric for face?

Have you ever noticed that a number of facial products are now being manufactured using turmeric as an active ingredient? Well, there’s probably a reason why. Turmeric contains a very important compound known as curcumin. This compound is what makes turmeric dark yellow and also comes with a number of antiviral, antibacterial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties. In researches, it has been shown that curcumin can help to alleviate pain, heal flus and even block cancer growth. No wonder turmeric is referred to as the magic spice.

Using turmeric for the face

Turmeric is perfect for the face because of its antibacterial and antiseptic properties. It’s able to fight pimples and prevent breakouts giving you a nice and glowing skin. Whether you have normal, oily or dry skin, turmeric can work incredibly well for all skin types. You just need to know how to apply the turmeric on your face in order to get the best results.

How to apply turmeric on your face

You can make your own face mask using turmeric powder at home. The right type of mask will depend on your skin type. You’ll need sandalwood powder, olive oil, rose water, ground turmeric and orange juice to make your mask. The orange or lemon juice acts as a source of vitamin C. Sandalwood powder works as an astringent.

If you have oily skin, you can use turmeric to regulate the amount of sebum produced by the sebaceous glands. Mix 3 tablespoons of orange juice with one and a half tablespoon of sandalwood and a pinch of ground turmeric. You can apply this mixture and let it sit for ten minutes and then rinse off with water.

For dry skin, you’ll need the olive oil and rose water together with 1 egg white. Add 2 drops of olive oil, 1 egg white, a pinch of turmeric and rose water to make a nice facial mask. Apply it on your face and give it time to dry completely then rinse off with some warm water. Turmeric masks can also be used to treat wrinkles.
