Tinashe has announced that rapper Iggy Azalea will be joining her on the release of “All Hands On Deck” as the third single off her debut album, Aquarius. “All Hands On Deck” was written by Tinashe with the assistance of a writing team and was produced by Stargate and Cashmere Cat. The news of the musician’s duet comes in the wake of an official announcement that Tinashe would be joining Azalea on the North American leg of her The Great Escape Tour alongside Nick Jonas (whom Tinashe has worked with on a remix of Jonas’ “Jealous”). The tour will be kicking off on April 14 in Fresno, California and is expected to run through May 24. “All Hands On Deck” is following the release of Tinashe’s debut single “2 On” and her second release “Pretend.” Perez Hilton debuted the remix of “All Hands On Deck” on his website earlier this morning, and the single will make its radio debut on February 23 during The Cruz Show on Power 106.
Recently Tinashe joined Ty Dolla Sign and Charli XCX on “Drop That Kitty Down Low.” The release will be supported by an official music video. Azalea jumped on Wiz Khalifa’s “Go Hard or Go Home,” which will be appearing on the soundtrack for racing film Furious 7. The rapper is expected to make a cameo in the film, and this will be her first official appearance in a film. Iggy is also preparing to release her duet with Jennifer Hudson “Trouble,” the second single from her Reclassified rerelease. Hudson claimed that Azalea was an inspiration to work with, as the rapper directed and wrote the script for the music video they shot in support of the release.
Since the announcement of “All Hands On Deck,” fan responses have been varied. Some are enjoying the surprise feature, and others are claiming that Azalea’s verse disrupts the song and are implying that the feature may destroy Tinashe’s young career. Since the song was heard on Perez Hilton’s blog, fans have started a campaign to have Azalea removed from the track. This is the second time in 2015 that an unexpected feature announcement has garnered negative attention, the first being when Charli XCX announced that Rita Ora would be making an appearance on the official release of Sucker’s third single “Doing It.”
