After his parents split up he was adopted by his maternal grandmother who raised him until adulthood. His mother was also adopted.

Number Fourteen: He Was A Musician As A Child

It’s probably no surprise that he started learning music as a child. He was already playing the piano by age 5. His talents helped him land a scholarship later in life.

Number Thirteen: He Started As A Comedian On A Dare

His career started as a comedian. He debut as a comedian in 1969 after his girlfriend at the time dared him to do an open mic at a comedy club.

He was born Eric Marlon Bishop. His stage name was two-fold, he wanted to have a unisex first name due to female comedians being scheduled to perform first on stage. He also admired Redd Foxx.

His first big screen role was a minor part in a movie starring Robin Williams. He played the role of Baker in “Toys”

His ambition in life was to play for the Dallas Cowboys. He was talented on the football field as well, known for being the first student to hit the 1000 yard line. Lucky for us he chose the latter.

Number Nine: He Is The Second Male In History To Be Nominated For Two Oscars

Second to Al Pacino, that is. He is the second male actor who was nominated for two Oscars in the same year for two different movies.

Number Eight: His Second Album Unpredictable Went Double Platinum
