Jamie Foxx Drops New Single ‘Pretty Young Thing’

Jamie Foxx dropped a new single on Soundcloud entitled “Pretty Young Thing.” The DJ Mustard-produced track pays tribute to the legendary Michael Jackson‘s “PYT” record. Foxx is reportedly working on a new album, which will be his first project since 2010. Foxx has released four albums including Peep This, Unpredictable, Intuition, and Best Night of My LifeThe R&B singer’s sophomore project Unpredictable featured the singles “Extravaganza,” “Unpredictable,” “DJ Play a Love Song,” and “Can I Take U Home.” The album sold 597,000 in its debut week, and eventually sold over one million copies. 

Aside from his music career, Foxx has had a very successful film career as well. The actor-singer has appeared in a great number of films including Ali, Collateral, Ray, Dreamgirls, Law Abiding Citizen, Django Unchained, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Horrible Bosses, Horrible Bosses 2, and Annie. In 2004, Foxx’s portrayal of the iconic singer Ray Charles won him an Academy Award for Best Actor. The film grossed over $124 million dollars at the box office. 

Ray Charles‘ iconic career began in 1947, and he was the pioneer of infusing soul, gospel, country and blues music. Some of Charles’ biggest hits include “What’d I Say,” “Georgia on My Mind,” “Hit the Road Jack,” and “I Got a Woman.” In 2004, Charles was ranked Number 10 on Rolling Stone magazine’s 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. The magazine also ranked the icon Number 2 on their 2008 list of the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time. 

Ray Charles has released 55 studio albums, and 127 singles in his music career. Some of his studio albums include The Genius Ray Charles, The Genius Hits the Road, Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music, Doing His Thing, Volcanic Action of My Soul, and Genius Loves CompanyModern Sounds in Country and Western Music and Genius Loves Company, both reached Number 1 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart. To date, Genius Loves Company has sold over three million copies. The iconic singer died in 2004, which was several months before his biographical film Ray premiered in theaters. Three years after his death, the Ray Charles Plaza was opened in his hometown of Albany, Georgia.
