Tiësto, Jay Z, No Doubt, Carrie Underwood, The Roots, FUN….what do these million-dollar names have in common? It seems a desire to help end poverty, hence their spontaneous involvement in the 2014 Global Citizen Festival an annual charity event hosted by The Global Poverty Project.

Global Citizen is an original initiative of Global Poverty Project, an organization that works to end extreme poverty by 2030. Born in Australia, the movement believes that “music transcends boundaries and languages and serves as an outlet for raising awareness” giving them “an opportunity to reach millions with the message that we can end poverty by 2030.”

Another heart-warming aspect of this festival: it’s the first set that the band No Doubt will be playing together in years. For those of us who grew up on the band’s ska-punk sound, it’s a sick opportunity to see them perform live.

Since the festival features the king of hip-hop Jay Z and EDM superstar Tiësto, there’s no doubt it will draw high interest from fans and press alike. The organization’s system of allocating tickets, however, provokes some skepticism in how efficiently it will run. With an estimated 48,000 free tickets up for draw, and a point-based system for entry, the process seems rather complicated for guests, illustrated by the looping map to tickets on the Global Citizen website. Additionally, its entirely possible many of these ‘free’ tickets’ will wind up for sale on the secondary market.

The Global Citizen Festival will take place September 27th, in Central Park on the Great Lawn.

Get tickets here. We promise you’ll feel those warm fuzzy feelings that comes with lending to a good cause, along with the regular dose of anticipation that comes with entering a draw for concert tickets.

Here’s the catch: the Global Citizen Festival doesn’t sell tickets out. Rather, they ask for a bit of your time and social media presence to boost the cause. Global Citizens can earn free tickets to the event , by doing good deeds (signing petitions, dropping knowledge of poverty via social media, etc.) to earn points. Earn 8 and you’re set to enter a drawing for free tickets.

Alternatively, if you have money to blow, you can purchase VIP passes to the concert via Ticketmaster.

If you want an idea of your odds at copping free tickets, here’s some information on upcoming drawings:
