Joni Mitchell Still Hospitalized, Not in Coma

Joni Mitchell was hospitalized earlier this month, after she was found unconscious in her Los Angeles home. The first report regarding Mitchell’s condition stated the singer was in an intensive care unit in a Los Angeles hospital. There hasn’t been any updated information about Mitchell, until TMZ reported yesterday that the singer had slipped into a coma. TMZ and several other media sources claimed Mitchell’s condition was far worse than the initial reports had led the public to believe.

After TMZ published their story that Mitchell was unresponsive and in a coma, the singer’s website quickly disputed the claims. “Contrary to rumors circulating on the Internet today, Joni is not in a coma. Joni is still in the hospital, but she comprehends, she’s alert, and she has her full senses,” the statement read. The statement also claimed Mitchell is expected to make a full recovery, and it stated the singer will have 24-hour doctor care when she leaves the hospital. “As we all know, Joni is a strong-willed woman and is nowhere near giving up the fight. Please continue to keep Joni in your thoughts,” according to the website. Fans can send the legend their well wishes on this website

Shine also impacted the music charts in the UK, Italy, Switzerland, Canada, Ireland, and Australia.

A tribute album entitled A Tribute to Joni Mitchell was released in 2007. Some of the songs featured on the 12-track Joni Mitchell tribute album included “River” by James Taylor, “Blue” by Sarah McLachlan, “A Case of You” by Prince, and “The Boho Dance” by Bjork.
