Before taking the stage for his performance at the Time 100 Gala, Kanye West and his ladylove, Kim Kardashian, experienced a strange encounter with comedian Amy Schumer on the event’s red carpet. When the comedian saw the couple posing for the camera, she decided to express her adoration for them by throwing herself at their feet. The three celebrities, all of whom appeared on this year’s 100 Most Influential People in the World list, were snapped in the post and the photos have since gone viral.
“I saw them and said to my publicist, ‘Can I pretend to fall?’ and she said, ‘I can’t stop you’,” Schumer recounted after picking herself up and dusting herself off. West and Kardashian looked on in disinterest, with Kim Kardashian wearing a look of sheer and utter confusion and Kanye West looking slightly more aggravated by the fan-girl attack. Photographers at the event can be heard laughing hysterically as West and Kardashian moved on. In fact, a camera even caught a snap of Kardashian laughing as they proceeded into the event.
After they made it into the gala, which took place at the Jazz at the Lincoln Center in New York City, Kanye West made his was onstage for his performance. During his set, West was joined onstage by a group of chalk covered shirtless men for a portion of the event. He worked his way through a collection of hits that spanned his discography, including “Runaway,” “Gold Digger,” “Touch the Sky,” as well as more recent cuts such as “Black Skinhead,” “Blood on the Leaves,” and current single “All Day.”
Although Amy Schumer pulled off the most epic prank, she made it very clear that she harbors no ill will for West or Kardashian. The comedian who recently hosted the MTV Movie Awards explained that “Blood on the Leaves” is her favorite song to have been released in the past five years.
The Time 100 Gala honored the personalities that made their way onto this year’s list of most influential people. Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift, and Amy Schumer are amongst those who were included on this year’s list. McGraw also made his way onstage for a performance during the gala, and each celebrity was honored with an essay about their legacy.
