According to reports, Katy Perry‘s manager spoke on her behalf at a music conference when he revealed the pop singer plans to release a new album in 2016. Perry’s manager, Steven Jensen, did not reveal anymore details regarding the forthcoming project, although Perry has yet to confirm the album news. If the pop singer is releasing a new project next year, it will mark her fifth studio album. Perry’s studio albums include Katy Hudson, One of the Boys, Teenage Dream, and Prism.
In March, Perry’s Teenage Dream album made music history by charting 200 weeks on the Billboard 200. To date, only twenty-five projects have spent 200 or more weeks on the Billboard 200 Albums chart. Teenage Dream joins the likes of Nirvana’s Nevermind, Taylor Swift’s Fearless, and Bruno Mars’ Doo-Wops & Hooligans, which have all spent 200 or more weeks on the Billboard 200. The project was dropped five years ago, and it has sold over five million copies worldwide (three million in the US). Five songs from the album reached Number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, which was also a historic moment in music history. “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F),” “Teenage Dream,” “E.T.,” “Firework,” and “California Gurls” all went to the top of the chart, and Perry became the first female artist to have five records reach Number 1 on the Hot 100.
Perry is currently on her Prismatic World Tour, which include dates in Europe, Asia, Latin America, Oceania, and North America. The tour, which began in May of last year, has 150 dates scheduled in all. The fifth leg of the tour wrapped this month on the 14th in Thailand. The final leg of the tour will begin in September, and it will conclude the following month. On September 22nd, Perry will travel to Lima (Peru) for a show at the Jockey Club.
