Lady Gaga Heads to Vegas and More in 2018

Lady Gaga is taking her talents to the strip with a 2-year residency in Las Vegas. The announcement was made on December 19 and Mother Monster will put on a reported 74 shows for her stint in the City of Sin. The residency had been rumored for a while, but now the news is finally official. Lady Gaga herself confirmed it with a Twitter post as did the venue.

Gaga will be performing at the Park Theater at Park MGM (previously known as the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino) beginning in December 2018. The performer is overjoyed, saying, “It’s been my lifelong dream to be a Las Vegas girl, I’m so overjoyed! “It’s the land of Elvis, Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra, the Rat Pack, Elton John, Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli.”

There will likely be plenty of new material and spectacle at the still-untitled show. Her upcoming record’s working title is LG6 and details of it are scant, but Gaga debuted the album track “Frankensteined” at an Indianapolis concert, and fans were ecstatic. She’s currently touring in support of Joanne, that album a departure from her typical music as a stripped down treatise on life, love and death in honor of a deceased aunt, whose name is the origin for the album’s title.

It’s shaping up to be a busy 2018 for Gaga as not only will she wrap a tour and plan for her residency, but she’ll also appear in the film A Star is Born starring Bradley Cooper. A Star is Born is a remake of the 1937 film starring Judy Garland — two other remakes of the same film have come before so it begs to differ what exactly will be different about this new take, but fans will probably flock to see Gaga on the big screen.

Gaga has had a difficult 2017 as she battles with chronic pain issues stemming from fibromyalgia, scenes of which appear in her Netflix documentary, Five Foot Two. The singer had to postpone the European leg of the Joanne World Tour until 2018, but she released a new series of dates for fans. The tour will relaunch on January 14, 2018 in Barcelona, then visit all of the previously planned stops before ending in Berlin on February 23, 2018.

Gaga isn’t the only performer to announce a residency recently. Canadian rockers Nickelback announced their own “Feed the Machine” residency, theirs will be at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino (of course) and will start on February 23, 2018. Ricky Martin will appear at the MGM Park for his own residency beginning in March 2018, and Bruno Mars will be doing the same with a limited series of shows in December 2017 and February 2018. Popstar Britney Spears will wrap up her own residency with Caesar’s Entertainment in Vegas on December 31, 2017. But fear not pop lovers, because the one, the only Cher is going to be in Vegas again at the MGM Park January, February and May and she’s said she has no plans of retiring.
