Marc Jacobs: 15 Things You Didn't Know (Part 1)

Though it didn’t seem like it was too long ago when he was the new kid on the block, Marc Jacobs has been a big name in the high-end fashion world for years now. In the time since he first gained notoriety, he’s had some high-profile fashion shows and some big-name friends, but there’s probably a lot you still don’t know about the designer.

Number Fifteen: He Once Designed an Ostrich-Skin Bag. Designers are becoming very innovative when it comes to material, and this is definitely an example of that. He named the bag BB after a fashion blogger who goes by the name BryanBoy.

Number Fourteen: He is an Actor as Well as a Designer. Or he was at least once in the 2013 thriller Disconnect where he plays a hustler. He has said he doesn’t love the process of being an actor, though, so that might be it for him.

Number Thirteen: He Was Fired by Perry Ellis and Won the FDA Women’s Designer of the Year Award in the Same Year. He created a grunge look way back in 1993 and lost his job because of it – but then won an award for the same line. It all worked out in the end.

Number Twelve: Julia Roberts Was His First Famous Customer. Of his inaugural boutique, that is. Many famous names would follow, but she was the first back in 1997.

Number Eleven: He is the Creative Director for Diet Coke. He’s the next in a long line of fashion names to hold the position, including Jean Paul Gaultier.

Number Ten: He Once Dressed as a Giant Camel Toe at a Company Christmas Party. It was the safe-for-work variety, in case your mind went in the wrong direction with that one.

Number Nine: He Has a Lot of Tattoos. We might not be able to see them under his stylish outfits, but he has 28 of them. They include one of Spongebob and one that says “Bros Before Hoes,” surprising enough. That’s it for part one of our Marc Jacobs list, but be sure to check back for part two, coming soon!
