Maroon 5: 15 Things You Didn’t Know (Part 2)

We already brought you part one of our list of 15 things you probably did not know about Maroon 5, and now we’re back with part two! Check out eight more fascinating facts about the iconic rock band that you definitely (probably) did not know below. You might be surprised by what you find out!

Number Eight: Ryan Dusick Was Replaced by Matt Flynn in 2006. Unfortunately, Ryan Dusick sustained an arm injury that caused him to have to leave the group. He was replaced by Matt Flynn, who had been a touring member since 2004.

Number Seven: They Have Three Grammy Awards. The quintet has been awarded three Grammys – one for being Best New Artist in 2005, one for “This Love” in 2006, and one more for “Makes Me Wonder” in 2008. They also have a pending Grammy in 2016 for “Sugar.”

Number Six: They Did Not Have a Number One Song Until 2007. It was “Makes Me Wonder” that put the group over the top and into number one territory on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Since then, they have had one more number one hit – “Moves Like Jagger.” The single features Christina Aguilera.

Number Five: Adam Levine Hates Flying. Because of lead singer Adam Levine’s distaste for flying, the group must travel on buses while they tour. However, they fuel their buses with biodiesel, so at least they’re environmentally friendly!

Number Four: They Have a Special Connection With the Number 222. Maroon 5 recorded their very first demo at Hollywood’s Room 222 Studio. Since they recorded their demo there, Adam Levine considers his lucky number to be 222.

Number Three: Adam Levine Worked as a Writer During the Band’s Hiatus. After the group was dropped from Reprise Records, Levine worked several odd jobs, including working as a writer’s assistant for the CBS show Judging Amy.

Number Two: They Have a Special Connection to Jonah Hill. Adam Levine’s childhood friend, Jordan Feldstein, is also their manager. Interestingly, Feldstein is actor Jonah Hill’s brother.

Number One: They Support LGBT Rights. Adam Levine’s brother is openly gay, and Levine has become a major advocate for LGBT rights. In fact, in 2012, Levine changed the location of their post-Grammy party when he discovered that the restaurant it was set to be at supported Proposition 8.
