Morrissey will perform at the Sydney Opera House in May for the Vivid Live festival. The pop singer has been named as one of the headliners for the festival, and he will play four nights at the event. The Vivid Live festival is an eighteen-day event, which will feature about eighty live shows starting on May 18th. Morrissey will perform on May 26th, 27th, 30th, and the 31st, which are currently his only dates scheduled in Australia this year.
Next month, Morrissey will embark on his six-date tour in the UK, which begins at Nottingham’s Capital FM Arena. Morrissey will also travel to Bournemouth, Cardiff, Leeds, and Glasgow before wrapping his mini-tour in Birmingham’s Barclaycard Arena on March 27th. While the pop singer may be most-known for his bizarre antics, Morrissey has had a very successful music career. He started his career as a member of The Smiths in the 1980s. The band dropped four albums in the UK including The Smiths, Meat Is Murder, The Queen Is Dead, and Strangeways, Here We Come, and they were hailed as one of the most vital voices of the 1980s. The Smiths had a great number of their songs reach the UK’s top twenty, and all of their albums charted in the top five of the music charts. In 1987, The Smiths disbanded due to financial issues regarding music royalties. The dispute would go on for years, and no real resolution has ever been reached.
There is very little chance The Smiths will ever reunite. When Morrissey was asked if he would ever reunite with his former band, the well-known vegetarian responded that he would rather eat his own testicles. When Morrissey left The Smiths in 1987, he never looked back. To date, the singer has released ten studio albums including Viva Hate, Kill Uncle, You Are the Quarry, Years of Refusal, and his 2014 effort World Peace Is None of Your Business. Morrissey’s first album, Viva Hate, debuted at Number 1 on the UK Albums Chart. The project was released six months after he left The Smiths, and it featured the songs “Suedehead” and “Everyday Is Like Sunday.” The outspoken pop singer has been called one of the most influential artists of all time.
