Going through airport security can be a very stressful experience. The act of flying is stressful enough, so the fact that you have to have all of your things examined beforehand can be pretty scary. Well, here, we present our list of the top 10 strangest things people have tried to bring through airport security. Check out part one of our list below, and stay tuned for part two, coming soon!
Number Ten: 240 Live Fish. In September of 2011, one brilliant person decided to attempt to smuggle 240 live fish onto a plane. The fish were sealed in four hard-sided suitcases, and each suitcase was filled with water and all kinds of swimming fish. Though fish are legal to transport on cargo planes in water-safe containers, clearly, there are some logistical issues with bringing them onto other planes.
Number Nine: 18 Decapitated Heads. Body parts are often flown overseas to universities for research, but people were shocked to see 18 decapitated heads in formaldehyde being checked through airport security without the proper paperwork. The head were on their way to a research facility in Chicago in 2013; however, because they didn’t have the right paperwork, there were some issues.
Number Eight: A Baby. In 2012, one Egyptian couple tried to smuggle their baby into the United Arab Emirates. They had previously been told that their child couldn’t come into the country because it didn’t have a visa, so they decided to try and carry it on in a suitcase. The TSA agent saw the baby in the x-ray, and the couple was subsequently arrested.
Number Seven: A Dead Man. Two German women decided it was a good idea to try and bring a dead man onto a plane without telling anybody. They sat the 91-year-old man in a wheelchair, put sunglasses on him and even had him ride in a cab for 45 minutes before arriving at the airport. Officials eventually checked his pulse and found he had been dead for 12 to 36 hours before entering the airport.
Number Six: A Baby Tiger. A Thai woman attempted to smuggle a baby tiger into Iran in 2010. She tried to disguise the two-month-old tiger next to a plush tiger; however, the TSA agent noticed a heartbeat in the x-ray.
