Teen Wolf is one of the most popular shows on MTV and has developed a cult following. However, despite the fact that the show has spent a considerable amount of time in the spotlight and under the scrutiny of the public eye, there are still some things that many people don’t know. With that in mind, here we present our list of 15 things you probably didn’t know about Teen Wolf. Well, what are you waiting for? Check it out for yourself below!
Number Fifteen: Dylan O’Brien Has More Bloopers Than Any Other Cast Member
Interestingly, O’Brien had absolutely no acting experience before auditioning for the show. This makes sense that he would have the most bloopers, then.
Number Fourteen: One Cast Member Is a Beauty Queen
Shelley Hennig was 2004’s Miss Teen USA! It’s no secret that Hennig is stunning, but we bet you didn’t know she’s been involved with the pageant world.
Number Thirteen: The ‘Wolf’ Howls on Teen Wolf Come From Another Animal Altogether
In fact, the howls featured on the show are actually gorilla noises. The gorilla noises sound scarier and more intense than an actual wolf howl.
Number Twelve: Tyler Posey Was Nearly Cast in Twilight
As Jacob Black, no less! However, Twilight‘s producers ended up going with Taylor Lautner.
Number Eleven: The Transformation From Human to Wolf Takes Two Hours in Makeup
The show’s actors must have some serious patience because it requires two hours for makeup artists to transform them from humans to wolves. That’s pretty impressive, considering the show features the transformations occurring over a matter of seconds.
Number Ten: The Black Blood Has an Interesting Flavor
According to the actors, the black blood featured in the show tastes like licorice. Depending on your thoughts on licorice, this could either be a sweet treat or a disgusting way to induce nausea.
Number Nine: Arden Cho Was a Cheerleader
Though Cho’s character on Teen Wolf is pretty hardcore, in real life, Cho is a little different. In fact, she was a cheerleader for eight years!
Number Eight: The Wolf Nails Are Made From Rubber
Though the nails look sharp and fierce on the show, they aren’t actually harmful. In fact, they’re made from rubber! Not so scary anymore, is it?
Number Seven: Tyler Posey Injured Himself Doing a Cartwheel
Posey performs numerous elaborate stunts for Teen Wolf; however, he didn’t injure himself until attempting to do a cartwheel! He did a cartwheel on stage during Comic-Con and ended up breaking his toe.
Number Six: Two Cast Members Are Also Band Members
Both Tyler Posey and Dylan O’Brien belong to bands – but not the same one! Posey belongs to a band named Lost In Kostko, and O’Brien plays the drums for a band named Slow Kids at Play.
Number Five: It’s Not the First Teen Wolf Television Show
Though the series is loosely based off of the 1985 film by the same name, most people don’t realize that it’s not the first Teen Wolf series to air either. In 1986, an animated version aired for two seasons.
Number Four: Tyler Posey’s First Kiss Was With Miley Cyrus
It doesn’t get much better than that. Not only did Posey share his first kiss with the superstar, but they dated for a short while as well.
Number Three: There’s a Reason the Wolves Aren’t All CGI
CGI is an easy way for producers to showcase something surreal without making the actors spend hours in makeup; however, this wasn’t the goal with Teen Wolf. According to producer Jeff Davis, the actors use makeup to transform into wolves so they still retain a somewhat human appearance.
Number Two: Werewolves You Can Kiss
According to one of the producers, the wolves featured on the show were designed to be sexier than those featured on other shows. The producers wanted viewers to be attracted to the wolves, not just see them as hairy monsters.
Number One: All Werewolves Are Not Created Equally on Teen Wolf
The differences are subtle but definitely there. The two different kinds of werewolves featured on the show are the werewolves who become werewolves because they were bitten and the werewolves who are born into it. The werewolves who are bitten are considered to be “cursed” by their condition. We hope you enjoyed our list of 15 things you didn’t know about Teen Wolf!
