Tim Cook has quickly become one of the most recognizable names in the tech industry. However, despite the fact that Cook has spent a considerable amount of time in the spotlight and under the scrutiny of the public eye, there are still some things that many people don’t know. With that in mind, here we present our list of 15 things you probably didn’t know about Tim Cook. Check out part one below, and stay tuned for part two, coming soon!

Number Fifteen: His First Job Was as a Paper Boy. Cook delivered papers for the Press-Register, which was the local paper in his home state of Alabama. In addition to being a paper boy, Cook also worked at a local pharmacy with his mother.

Number Fourteen: He Ran a Company in College. While cook was still in school at Auburn University, he was working with Reynolds Aluminum. While he was there, much of the staff had to be laid off, and so Cook was given the opportunity to work very closely with the company’s president.

Number Thirteen: He Wanted to Be an Engineer. Cook studied industrial engineering in college and was reportedly quite good at it. One teacher described Cook as “a solid B-plus or A-minus student.”

Number Twelve: He Was Ambitious From the Very Beginning. When Cook first began working at Apple, he requested to have a small office that was diagonally opposite from Steve Jobs’. Though few people noticed this at the time, it would go on to be an early sign of Cook’s ambition.

Number Eleven: He Has Been Offered Several Other CEO Positions. Since Cook has been with Apple, he has been offered positions as the CEO of several other big companies, including Dell and Motorola. However, he never caved and stuck it out with Apple.

Number Ten: He Is Rough on His Staff. Cook is reportedly not a fan of small talk, and he has earned a reputation for being quite harsh and demanding with his staff. One time, he reportedly told a planner that his numbers “make me want to jump out that window over there.”

Number Nine: He Is a Momma’s Boy. Cook calls his mother quite regularly, and even when he was traveling around the world for Apple, he still called his mother every week.
