Lee “Scratch” Perry’s Vision of Paradise follows the legendary music producer on a spiritual and geographical journey back to his native Jamaica, and through Ethopia, Germany, Switzerland and London. The film offers a fascinating and unique perspective on the alternate realty in which Perry lives.

Lee “Scratch” Perry is the most influential music producer ever to emerge from Jamaica.  Widely considered the godfather of both reggae and dub, he shaped the sound of The Wailers and produced countless landmark albums with groups like The Congos, Heptones, Max Romeo, Junior Murvin, and many, many more.

After torching his historic recording studio the Black Ark in 1978, Perry left Jamaica for New York and spent the next three decades wandering the planet and making music with the likes of The Orb, Keith Richards, The Beastie Boys, George Clinton, David Lynch, Andrew WK, Moby, Ari Up of The Slits, Bill Laswell, Tunde Adebimpe of TV On The Radio, Sly Dunbar, Adrian Sherwood, and Mad Professor.

Lee has won a Grammy, Rolling Stone Magazine featured him in their list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time and his collaborative albums with The Orb were met with widespread critical acclaim.  His 2014 Kickstarter project with producer Daniel Boyle titled ‘Back On The Controls’ was nominated for a Grammy for Best Reggae Album.

At 83 years old, Lee continues touring the world and blessing audiences with his musical genius.  Lee “Scratch” Perry’s Vision of Paradise soon come to a theater near you.
